Job Description
|
This paediatric occupational therapy department is seeking a locum occupational therapist to join an experienced team and work full time (although hours and days are flexible and negotiable depending on the candidates preferences) for 4 - 6 months.
Responsibilities:
• Be accountable for the provision of an occupational therapy service for the children referred to the organisation. • Implement an effective caseload management structure in accordance with wider service. • Work in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team in planning and providing programmes to the children. • Be accountable for good communication with families in the delivery of a client/family centred service. • Apply an occupational therapy process to children who are receiving a service to include assessment, intervention and review. • Carry out home visits, pre-school/school visits as necessary. • Work both individually and in groups as appropriate. • Be familiar with the roles of the other team members, respect their view and work collaboratively in the planning and provision of services. • Attend team meetings and other meetings as required. • Participate in national working groups/projects as requested by management. • Be accountable for regular documentation of children’s programmes and progress in the appropriate file. • Ensure preparation of documentation and attendance at team meetings, family meetings clinics, etc. • Be accountable for recording workload and maintaining statistical records as required by management. • Keep up-to-date with developments in the practice of occupational therapy and other developments relevant to service provision. • Participate in research as required. • Attend training courses as required. • Participate in teaching/training parents/staff/students/school staff/volunteers as required. • Provide professional supervision to students and basic grade staff as appropriate. • Participate in in-service training/study days/conferences as required. • Will take responsibility for security and economical use of resources.
Requirements: • Relevant Occupational Therapy qualification. • Ideally at least 2 years postgraduate experience. • Experience working with children with various conditions from 0 to 16 years old is desirable. • Have completed post-graduate training in Sensory Integrative Therapy. • Have experience in using different standardised tests in assessing a child’s developmental skills, sensory, perceptual and motor functions, and also functional abilities.
